Stay & Play Packages at Garland: Where to Play & Where to Stay

Anyone can walk up and pay a daily rate to play any of Garland’s five golf courses or make a tee time up to 30 days in advance. And anyone can book a stay in any of Garland’s overnight accommodations.
But Garland’s Stay & Play Packages are the best way to experience the resort.

With a Stay & Play Package, you get the best of both worlds at the best price. For example, Garland’s Northern Michigan Spring Golf Special includes two rounds of golf and one night’s lodging starting as low as $145 per person. It’s actually a better price to stay and play two rounds than it is to pay separately for two greens fees!

Ditto for Garland’s Mid-Week Summer Golf Package Special, which starts as low as $145 per person for one round of golf and a weeknight’s stay during the peak season.

Sometimes, Garland offers even better deals. Garland’s Prepaid Golf Show Vouchers available in later winter offer the best savings of the season! (And, psst, here’s a secret: You don’t have to visit the Garland booth at a golf show to get this special price. It’s available right here!)
In addition to standard and special packages, Garland can design a custom golf and lodging package just for you. You can play any or all of Garland’s four championship golf courses, plus Garland’s new short course called The Sawyer. And you can choose from a variety of Garland lodging options, from a hotel room in the lodge to single and double villas with living areas as well as larger Golf Cottages and French villas with full kitchens, too. Here’s a Closer Look At Where To Play at Garland

Collectively, the five golf courses at Garland Lodge & Golf Resort offer a natural backdrop of scenic beauty and teeming wildlife as they weave through 3,000 acres of unspoiled Northern Michigan wilderness. You can’t go wrong with any of the four 18-hole championship tracks or Garland’s new fast and fun short course that plays as a reversible loop.

That said, each layout features a unique personality and you might find that you like one or two of them even more than the others. Here’s a look at some of the key characteristics that define each of Garland’s golf courses:

  • Swampfire at Garlandwas built in the 1980s and is the oldest course at Garland. With water on 16 of the 18 holes, golfers find Swampfire both picturesque and hazardous. There’s a risk-and-reward element to the design that in some cases enables you to steer clear of the natural marshes and wetlands by playing safe – or invites you to take dead aim over the water. See Swampfire Scorecard And Hole-By-Hole Layout
  • Monarch at Garlandis known for its prodigious length. Playing to more than 7,200 yards from the tips, the “King of Michigan Golf” is the longest course at Garland and, in terms of the course rating, the most difficult. Of course, few players attempt to tackle Monarch from the back tees. When you play from the tees that are right for you, this classic design is a joy. You’ll find large greens and wide fairways that allow you to “grip it and rip it.” See Monarch Scorecard And Hole-By-Hole Layout
  • Reflections at Garlandis the shortest of the four 18-hole courses at the resort and prizes accuracy off the tee with tight fairways. The course is best known for having six par 5s, six par 4s and six par 3s instead of the traditional layout of mostly par 4s. Many players love the 6-6-6 mix because pars and birdies happen more often on par 5s than on par 4s. Plus, the extra par 3s give more opportunities for a hole-in-one! See Reflections Scorecard And Hole-By-Hole Layout
  • Fountains at Garlandalso has six par 5s, six par 4s and six par 3s. And like the other 18-hole courses at Garland, Fountains winds through the peaceful tranquility of the northern Michigan woods. That said, the original 1995 course was redesigned in 2010 and now stands apart as a masterpiece of golfing art. This premier course features dramatic elevation changes and undulating greens that are a roller coaster ride with nary a straight putt. See Fountains Scorecard And Hole-By-Hole Layout
  • The Sawyer at Garlandis a short course that plays as a reversible loop with either 9 or 10 holes, depending on the day. Each hole is a par 3, and a short one at that, ranging from 57 to 113 yards on the Green Loop and from 58 to 118 yards on the White Loop. The Sawyer is a walking-only course designed for fast play. It’s great for serious players to work on their short games and for casual golfers to knock a ball around while socializing in a group of up to 12. See The Sawyer Scorecards
