FAQs

Garland has a total of 173 rooms.

With all rooms to maximum capacity, over 400 people.

Check in is at 4 pm or shortly after, and checkout is at 10 am.

Do you need to check out before the group plays golf?   Yes.

We have 72 holes or four 18-hole courses.

Fountains, Monarch, Reflections and Swampfire

Fountains, 1995 & redesigned by Michael Benkusky in 2010.

The driving range is on the way to Monarch’s first tee.

Reflections, Fountains (our premier course according to the slope rating and does have an additional charge affiliated), Swampfire, and then Monarch is the hardest course.

Main Lodge: Located on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors of the main wing of this lodge.

South Wing: Located on the south end of the Main Lodge.

Double Villas: Located within walking distance of the main lodge between the conference area and the tennis courts. 

Condos: Located on the Reflections Golf Course on the south side of the swimming pool and tennis court area.  They have a private gated entrance.

Single Villas: Located within walking distance of the Main Lodge near the swimming pool, tennis courts and outdoor jacuzzi.

Golf Cottages: Located ¼ mile from the Main Lodge on the west side of Red Oak Road.

French Villas: Located ¼ mile from the Main Lodge on the west side of Red Oak Road.

Hunting, canoeing, horseback riding, shopping trips, tubing, fishing, and downhill skiing

Fitness Center: Located on the 1st floor of the Main Lodge down the stairs next to the Front Desk and left to the end of the hall through the double doors then to the right. A room key is needed to access it.

Lounge: From the Main Lodge entrance go left down the hall straight ahead.

Indoor Pool Indoor located on the 1st floor of the Main Lodge down the stairs next to the Front Desk and left to the end of the hall through the double doors. A room key is needed for access.

Outdoor Pool: Outdoor located between the Double and Single Villas, behind the tennis/basketball courts.

Great Room: Across from the Conference Center and next to the Double Villas

Garland Center: Located at the far end of the South Wing

Wi-Fi is available in our buildings.  The best places to connect are the lobby and common areas such as the bar, restaurant, and business center.

We have an outdoor ‘salt water’ pool and an indoor lap pool.  We also have a fitness center and sauna.

We do offer rental clubs!  Please contact our Golf Shop at 989-786-1444 for additional details, rental rates, and availability.

We have a driving range, chipping area, and putting green for guests' use.

Unfortunately, our courses are not designed to be walked.  Carts are mandatory.

Yes, our business center is located just beyond the main lobby. 

There is a private airport adjacent to the resort.  The FAA identifier is 8M8.

Yes, please call our front desk at 989-786-2211 to request a courtesy pick-up.

Pets may be allowed, based on your reserved accommodations.

We accept dinner reservations for Tamarack, our full-service restaurant.

We do.  Please check in with the Golf Shop.  They will direct you to our driving range and practice greens.

Collared shirt and appropriate footwear required. No denim, no cut-offs, no swimwear. No metal spikes.

Getting to Garland is an easy day trip from most of the Mid-West.  We are located southeast of Gaylord in Lewiston, Michigan.  Typical driving times are:

3 hours from Lansing

3 ½ hours from Detroit

3 hours from Grand Rapids

From Grand Rapids:  Take US-131 North to Cadillac, and then turn right (East) onto M-55.  Follow M-55 to US-27 (30 miles).  Take US-27 North to I-75 North.  Follow I-75 North to exit 254.  After exiting, turn right at the first light onto M-72 East.  Follow M-72 to Luzerne (23 miles).  Turn left (North) at the blinking caution light onto County Road 489 (also known as Deeter Rd. & Red Oak Rd.) (14 miles).  The entrance to Garland will be on the right-hand side.

From Detroit:  Take I-75 North to exit 202, Alger/Mio.  Then bear right on M-33 North to Mio (36 miles).  Turn left in Mio at the stop-light onto M-72 West.  Follow M-72 to Luzerne (8 miles).  Turn right (North) at the blinking caution light onto County Road 489 (also known as Deeter Rd. & Red Oak Road) (14 miles).  The entrance to Garland will be on the right-hand side.

From Lansing:  Follow M-27/US 127 North to I-75 North.  Follow I-75 North to exit 254, Grayling.  After exiting, turn right at the first light onto M-72 East.  Follow M-72 to Luzerne (23 miles).  Turn left (North) at the blinking caution light onto County Road 489 (14 miles).  The entrance to Garland will be on the right-hand side.

From the Upper Peninsula:  Follow I-75 South to exit 282, Gaylord.  Head East on M-32 until you come to County Road 491.  Turn right  (South) on County Road 491 and continue on until you come to the 4-way stop sign.  Go straight through the stop sign (County Road 489), travel 5 miles South.  The entrance to Garland will be on the left-hand side.
